Theme: Creating a conducive ecosystem for E-Mobility adoption
Prawaas Electric Mobility Showcase aims to bring all stakeholders of the Electric Mobility Eco-system and value chain on a single platform to discuss and deliberate on the latest Research, Development and Deployment in the field of Electric Mobility including worldwide Trends, Technologies and Government policies.
The world is transforming rapidly, changing the way people and goods travel within and across cities, regions, and countries. By 2030, annual passenger traffic will exceed 80 trillion passenger-kilometers—a fifty percent increase; global freight volumes will grow by 70 percent and an additional 1.2 billion cars will be on the road by 2050—double today's total. Transport infrastructure and services will have an ever-greater role to play in meeting this additional demand.
The potential economic and social benefits of today's transport are significantly offset by the large social, health, environmental, and economic losses associated with traffic congestion, air and noise pollution, and road crashes.
Why Electric Mobility? - India The number of registered motor vehicles in India has increased significantly over the past three decades, from 29.4 million in 1991 to 159.4 million in 2011, and this growth is likely to continue. Projections show that the passenger travel demand from urban areas will double by 2021 [1,448 Billion Passenger Kilometers (BPKM)] and triple by 2031 (2,315 BPKM), relative to 2011 levels (IUT and CSTEP 2014).
For emerging economies like India, the urgency to find viable alternatives for sustainable mobility is also accentuated by rapid economic development which is accelerating the demand for transportation. As a result of sustained high GDP growth, primary energy consumption is expected to increase by 70% in the next ten years. The gap between domestic crude oil production and consumption is widening.
The cities should have a larger vision to curb dependence on fossil fuel and reduce CO2 emissions. With most metropolitan areas targeting zero-emission environments, an increasing number of cities and transport companies are considering a fully-electric solution for their urban bus network. It is right time that public transport vehicles shift their source of power from diesel to electricity.
